On a beautiful sunny day in June, we caught up with Whittlesford artist, Val Pettifer in her newly transformed studio. We instantly fell in love with her colourful work...

When did you start practising your art?

It's that time of year when you start to see those bright yellow covetable brochures appearing in local shops and galleries, as once again Open Studios takes over Cambridge for 4 weekends in July. Karen and I were again delighted to be asked to visit and interview just a handful of the wonderful artists that take part in this locally-renowned event.

In the last of our series of interviews with participating members of Cambridge Open Studios we speak to Illustrator Michelle Thompson.

Where did you originally train?

I studied for my degree at The Norwich School of Art and then a Masters at The Royal College of Art, both in Illustration.

You mostly work to commission, how do you cope with the deadlines?

In our series of interviews with members of Cambridge Open Studios we had the pleasure of meeting artist and printmaker Anna Pye whose work is inspired by the countryside, nature, maps and everyday objects.

Have you taken part in Open Studios before?

Kye Sook Park is a South Korean Artist who paints beautiful, ethereal paintings in indian ink on rice paper...

Where did you train?

In Korea BA for fine art and MA for fine art education but I have done many kind of art - oil painting, water colour , life drawing , print making, silk screen.
 
What is your preferred medium?
