Alastair Hull - Haddenham Galleries

Today we meet owner of the Haddenham Galleries and Studios, Alastair Hull.

How and when did you set up the gallery at Haddenham?

It has been a long evolution of trading to arrive where we are now. We had a shop in Mill Road called 'Alternatives' in the 1970's to 80's, we then moved to Haddenham where we had a small shop in front of our big ethnic wholesale warehouse.

Carry Akroyd, Painter and Printmaker

Today we speak to painter and printmaker Carry Akroyd and find out what inspires her vibrant landscapes of the local countryside...

Where did you learn your craft?

I was first introduced to screenprinting at Kettering Tech when I was 15, and immediately loved it.

Local community project, Great Shelford

If you are passing through Great Shelford, check out the hoarding outside the building site in Woollards Lane. Hill Residential commissioned me to work with the children of Great and Little Shelford school, to make some prints to go on the hoarding.

Michael Papworth, Printmaker

Today we meet printmaker and artist Michael Papworth and find out about more about his stunning landscapes.

What was your first job?

Andrew Roberts Illustrator

This week we meet Shelford based Illustrator Andrew Roberts.

So Andrew, tell me where you trained?

Trained at Isle college Wisbech. Inspired by my brother.

Was the technology a far cry from what you use now?

No, It was so much more advanced in those days... no I’m being cheeky! Everything we did was hand drawn, hand made even, but it gave you a good grounding.
