When did you start practising your art?

Open Studios: John Pocock

It's that time of year when you start to see those bright yellow covetable brochures appearing in local shops and galleries, as once again Open Studios takes over Cambridge for 4 weekends in July. Karen and I were again delighted to be asked to visit and interview just a handful of the wonderful artists that take part in this locally-renowned event.

We start our series of interviews with painter John Pocock who's vibrant, light-filled paintings are a regular highlight of the Open Studio calendar....

Christmas window at the Folk Museum

Mandy Knapp and Karen Jinks have been getting festive at the Cambridge & County Folk Museum.

Armed with garlands and baubles, we have given the window at the Folk Museum a traditional festive feel and filled it with fabulous gift ideas. The assortment within the shop reflects the museum collection, so you really feel you can take a little bit of the experience home with you.

Mixed Media Workshop With Karen Jinks at Cambridge Art Salon

Drop in to the Art Salon on Wednesday 21st November between 10.30am and 2pm, and make some gorgeous mixed media cards with Karen Jinks. 

Shop Makeover at the Art Salon

Karen Jinks and Mandy Knapp of Cambridge Creative Network have been very busy girls, addressing the retail space at the Art Salon in Cromwell Road, Cambridge.

Utilising their extensive retail experience and eye for design, they pulled the shop apart and put it back together!

Workshops with Sophie Hill at the Cambridge Art Salon

Sophie Hill invites you to her workshops at Cambridge Art Salon, Saturday 17th November, and Sunday 25th November

On Saturday 17th, she will lead a workshop where you can create an image of Cambridge, capture it in a variety of media and make it a part of a large community made piece of artwork. Squares of artwork will be collaged together to amass one big collection of images, depicting how you see Cambridge. 

Open Studios: Michelle Thompson

Where did you originally train?

I studied for my degree at The Norwich School of Art and then a Masters at The Royal College of Art, both in Illustration.
